   THE WAY

Alan Barton, D.O.

Dr. Barton is currently practicing rural Med/Peds primary care in Chillicothe, MO.

Alan was raised in Gallatin, MO, a rural farming community of less than 2,000 people.  While a high school student, Alan received the Congress/Bundestag scholarship and was able to spend a year in Germany.

Alan studied computer science at Washington University before moving to Kirksville, MO, where he received a BS and BA in biology and with a minor in German.  Alan stayed in Kirksville to pursue his medical training at the School of Osteopathic Medicine there.  His work experience includes time as a manager for a hardware store and a computer technician at Kirksville's College of Osteopathic Medicine.  He volunteered through delivery of meals to flood victims in Northwest Missouri during the Great Flood of 1993.  Due to his desire to practice rural based primary care, Alan completed his third year clerkships in Phoenix, Arizona, and provided care to the Navajo population.  Alan joined our residency program in 2000 and served as chief resident of internal medicine during his senior year.  Dr. Barton is currently practicing rural Med/Peds primary care in Chillicothe, MO
