Julie Kowacz

Julie began her undergraduate education in California, studying at the College of Marin and Merced College to receive a degree in radiological technology with honors.  Subsequently, she was employed as radiographer and mammographer at Merced Community Medical Center.  She continued to work as radiographer at Western Missouri Medical Center and at Truman Medical Center after moving to Missouri, while simultaneously carrying out further undergraduate studies at Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg.  After graduating cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in biology, Julie entered the School of Medicine at the University of Missouri - Columbia in 2001.Julie has numerous volunteer activities to her credit, including involvement in Primary Care Week, Residency Fair, a drive for women’s shelter, women’s health fair and Camp Hickory Hill.   

In addition, she served as tutor for students in botany and a science education volunteer for 2nd grade students.  Julie served as the Vice President of AMWA, the Treasurer of AMSA, and as a participant in multiple other organizations as a medical student.  She also served on the committee for MUlation and the graduation committee for her medical school class. 
Award credits are numerous and include a Regents Scholarship Award, Mallinckrodt Award of Excellence, and Helen P. Fleming Memorial Award among others.  Julie is joined our Med/Peds program as integrated resident and adds refreshing variety due to her previous experiences.  She anticipates practicing Med/Peds primary care.
