Kristy Schmitz, M.D.

Dr. Schmitz is currently the Hospitalist Medical Director at StoneCrest Medical Center in Smyrna, TN.

As an undergraduate, Kristy attended Truman State University and graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. She received her medical school education from the University of Missouri – Columbia, where she also served as the president of the American Medical Women’s Association Student Chapter and as secretary for the Association of Student Internists.

Kristy further expanded her medical education through the participation in the AHEC Rural Scholars Program and graduated cum laude in 1999. After joining our Med/Peds training program as an integrated resident, she continued to remain very active and served on the House Staff Organization Executive Committee and as Chief Resident of the Department of Child Health in her senior year of residency. Kristy also presented a Grand Rounds on the topic of estrogen replacement and won the Outstanding Internal Medicine and Pediatrics Teaching Award. Upon graduation from our program, Dr. Schmitz became a Med/Peds hospitalist in Nashville, Tennessee. She has now risen to the position of Hospitalist Medical Director at StoneCrest Medical Center.
