Our curriculum is based on the requirements set forth by the American Board of Pediatrics and the American Board of Internal Medicine.  It is a four year training program with time split evenly between the two departments.  Rather than changing rotations on the first of every month, our rotations last exactly four weeks (28 days).   This allows us to have a total of thirteen rotations over the course of the year instead of twelve.  In addition, we alternate departments after every three rotations.  This system allows our residents to experience medicine and pediatrics during each season of the year at some point in their four years of training.  Many of our electives are combined rotations, during which we attend the clinics of both internists and pediatricians so that our educational experience more closely approximates our future practices.
